Coaching focuses on where you are right now and where you want to be, with a goal of helping you get clear about your vision, notice and remove obstacles to your success, stimulate the pace of your growth and realize results that help you to live your best life – both personally and professionally. We can work on any area of your life: Personal Self Esteem, Finances, Spiritual Life, Relationships, Work and Business, or Physical Health. While coaching is forward-focused, counseling tends to deal more with past issues in which you may find yourself stuck and struggling. Sometimes we may discuss something that has happened in your past, but coaching will then focus on how to move forward.

Although it is not counselling or therapy, coaching often has a therapeutic or cathartic impact. Coaching is focused on the future whereas counselling and therapy focuses on the past. Although we often need to revisit the past in coaching, the focus is then put on how to move forward, rather than working to resolve and heal any past traumas. This very important work needs to be done with a trained therapist or psychologist.

Yes. At the start of the coaching relationship, you will write down specific measurable goals. You will then be able to look back to see exactly which parts of those goals you have met and by when.

Word of mouth referrals, checking if the coach is affiliated with the International Coaching Federation to make they sure they comply with the industry standards. Lastly, once you have had your first check in with the coach, your intuition or ‘gut-feel’ of whether you have a good connection with that coach is of the utmost importance.
